Use Good Soap and Make It Last
As part of your "go green" journey check out your bathroom. What kind of soap are you using?
If you have liquid soap in a plastic bottle we want you to switch to a bar. Soap bars are a bit old fashion but so much more sustainable than liquids. Sustainable is just the beginning- a good bar of soap is magical. I still remember the first bar of handcrafted soap I was given. It changed my shower, the silky feel, the scent, the way my skin felt after and most importantly a lovely mental shift. Maybe it was the lack of chemicals that my brain found so restful. Whatever the reason- I felt good while doing good.
We make six varieties of soap all with a base of sustainably harvested Maine seaweed. Our soap is made in small batches with quality ingredients. One ingredient we never use is palm oil. Every bar of soap we make is palm oil free.

Once your bar of soap is unwrapped and in your bathroom it's important to take care of it. One of my big mindset changes is how I perceive and value items. Taking care of a simple bar of soap makes it last longer and that's good. Good for your pocketbook and good for our planet.
Simple Soap Saving Tips
- Keep it out of water. I know soap and water is like macaroni and cheese. When you're not using your soap keep it away from the shower's stream and steam. The ledges built into many showers are not ideal for soap storage. All the extra moisture breaks soap down into a soggy, melty blob.
- Find a soap dish that allows for air flow, either holes or lathes. Air circulating lets soap dry faster and last longer.
- Cutting your bar in half will make your soap last much longer.
